Privacy Policy
NYC Rhythm (“we”, “us”) publishes the NYC Rhythm app for Android, Android Auto and Android TV, the website nycrhythm.com, and the community chat at chat.nycrhythm.org.
This policy explains what information those services collect and how it is used.
What We Collect
You can join the chat without an account. We store the display name you choose, the messages, reactions and song requests you post, an optional profile picture, and a random session identifier so the room knows who is present. Guest data is deleted automatically after a period of inactivity.
If you create an account we additionally store your email address and a password hash (we never see your password), your profile (display name, bio, avatar), your messages and reactions, and your read state and settings. If you turn on go-live alerts we store a push-notification subscription for your browser.
The chat site records technical error reports (what went wrong in the app, the page and the browser type) to fix bugs. The radio and video streams receive your device’s network address and a generic app identifier (“NycRhythmApp/version”) as part of every stream request, as any internet radio does. We do not collect precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and the app shows no ads.
How We Use It
To run the chat room (show your name and messages to the other people in it), to keep you signed in, to enforce the house rules (moderators can remove messages and ban accounts that break them), to send go-live alerts you asked for, to show what the radio is playing, and to fix problems.
Who Else Sees It
- Supabase hosts the chat database, accounts and file storage on our behalf.
- Twitch provides the embedded video player when a DJ streams on Twitch; its own privacy policy applies to that player.
- The station’s streaming provider delivers the radio audio stream.
- Apple’s iTunes Search is queried, by our server and not by your device, for album artwork of the track currently playing.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your Choices
- Delete your account at any time from the chat’s Settings → Delete account, or at chat.nycrhythm.org/delete-account. This removes your profile, messages, reactions, sign-in and avatar.
- Guests simply leave the chat; the session and its data expire on their own.
- Notifications can be switched off in the chat settings or in your device’s notification settings.
Children
The chat is a live, public room for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We will post any changes to this page.
